art place berlin - Debora Fede - IL VENTO DEL NORD

"DEBORA FEDE - Il Vento del Nord"

January 12th - March 18th, 2012

She understands that the aesthetic experience is above all a mean of getting to know the world. Her contemporary pictorial investigation involves a deep analysis of the feelings and sensations that occur from the actions of humans.
Debora creates her paintings using two basic elements: color and movement. The paintings she depicts partake in a parallel analysis between polychrome and color.

Ivar Kaasik - Paintings

"IVAR KAASIK - As Time Goes By"

November 2nd, 2011 - January 7th, 2012

"Kaasik's spectrum of motifs ranges from stars, stylized into icons of film history, to idyllic landscapes, vivid portraits of people, plants or animals, all the way to strongly focussed urban scenes. On seeing these paintings, terms like photorealism or even hyperrealism come to mind, because all the paintings demonstrate great artistry and precision in their execution. One realises that Kaasik works with rather reticent colours that lack any kind of assertive gleam, which is replaced by a kind of subtle veil or a blurring that is difficult to grasp for the eye.

Zhang Xiuzhu - As Time Goes By

"ZHANG XIUZHU - As Time Goes By"

August 31st - October 27th, 2011

"The most outstanding and valuable aspect of his artistic endeavour is his search for a common ground between two poles of Western and Eastern cultures. Generally speaking, Western painting emphasizes the represen-tation of the external form of the subject while Eastern painting emphasizes the capture of its inner spirit or essence. It may be said that Zhang Xiuzhu employs Western technique to unlock the door to Eastern sentiments and thoughts. Inherent in his search is a strong spirit of adventure and creativity." - SUN Meilan, Prof. CAFA -

"Romantic Stories"
Fascinating paintings by SINN

July 15th - Nov 22th, 2010

"SINN (Jinaun Kim) connects Asian and Western pictorial tradition. The transparency of ink, the light reflections of the aluminium base and the score marks result in a floating spatiality as well as an undefined - mysterious depth. The lucent graphisms condense into polyphonic figures, who appeal to the viewer on multiple levels with regard to contents, stylistic and aesthetical." - Gerhard Charles Rump -

Christian Schütz "Zeichen - Gestalt"

March 9th - May 9th, 2010

Christian Schütz, born 1941 in Berlin, driven between East and West, is a convinced and spirited anti-ideologist. His confidence belongs to the art and the sciences as a realm of possibilities. In the set of "STRINGS" for example - a thematically extensive, wide-ranged image-complex - the artist, well trained in logic and semiotics, attempts to visualize the psychodynamics of tones in basis and core. The methods applied are closely related to the process of musical composition and mathematics.

Graphic Portfolio Lorca

The graphic portfolio "Federico Garcia Lorca" of the collection Politeo

Fifty international artists from four continents are brought together by the first project of the "art place berlin" at the Park Inn Berlin-Alexanderplatz. The artists dedicated their works to the cosmopolitan, poet and dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca, who became an icon of political, artistic-intellectual and religious freedom after his assassination in 1936 by the Spanish fascists.
The idea for the project was born in winter 1977 when the Croatian art collector Toni Politeo went for a walk with the Spanish painter Luis Caruncho in Madrid. About sixty years ago...
